Professor Earl Thompson, R.I.P.
The American academic elite lost one of its most distinctive and original conservative dissident thinkers with the death of UCLA Economics professor (and AT contributor) Earl Thompson. Professor Thompson was an invaluable resource to us during the financial crisis of 2008 and beyond, contributing far more than just his written submissions.
Professor Thompson was the rarest of intellectuals these days, a man unafraid to buck the tides of fashion in the academy, and stake out positions consistent with what he believed. The UCLA Economics Department has published a memorial to Professor Thompson here, which kindly mentions his work with AT.
His wife and son, and all his other family and friends have our deepest sympathy in their terrible loss.
