Big Bill Richardson to pardon Bill the Kid?
I kid you not (sorry just couldn't resist that), but Big Bill Richardson, New Mexico's lame duck, corruptocrat, Democrat governor, has decided that one of his priorities before he departs office early next year, is to pardon Billy the Kid. That's right, as in the long-dead William H. Bonney of Old West infamy, himself brought to an early end by Sheriff Pat Garrett, who then made himself and Billy western legends through slick self-promotion that would do Big Bill proud.
Here in Lincoln County, home of Billy's long-ago exploits, a pardon for Billy is not a hot-button issue with the locals. What are hot-button issues are our rising taxes and the huge budget deficits that eight years of Democrat reign under Richardson have brought to our state. But Big Bill, as always, is more about devoting his attention to those fatuous situations that bring him favorable media attention than the real-life issues most pressing to his constituents.
Right now the fervent hope of the many New Mexicans fed up with Bill's outlaw ways and global grandstanding is that when Republicans do regain control of the White House, an objective, non-politicized Justice Department will take another look at those serious corruption charges against Richardson dropped by Obama's own corrupt legal toadies embarrassingly soon after they assumed control of the investigation.
I'm thinking that if Big Bill goes through with the pardon for little Billy and is then later convicted himself, that perhaps he should be incarcerated right here in our Lincoln County jail just like little Billy. How's that for history repeating itself? Not to mention the absolutely delicious irony. There's a whole bunch of us hoping for it.
I kid you not...
