Obama's golfing good for all Americans?

It's a "PR gaffe" if BP CEO Tony Hayward takes a few hours off to go sailing with his son, but when The One goes golfing, or attends a ballgame, it's actually good for all Americans.

Your what hurts?

White House spokesman Bill Burton said, in response to GOP criticism of Obama golfing for 5 hours, that Obama having time for himself "probably does us all good."

I know it does me a lot of good. While Obama is on the links or otherwise in engaged in more leisurely pursuits, we can be darn sure he's not scheming to invent more creative means of separating the taxpayer from his hard earned money.

Maybe if Obama gets very, very good at golf, he will abandon his re-election bid and seek a US Open title. He will probably find more success in that realm than in the political arena where the voters will judge for themselves in 2012 how much good Obama has done all of us.
