Steele's latest goof
The Michael Steele RNC gaffe-spiral continues. Last week, instead of playing "race victim," asserting that whites fear him because he's black, and cutting checks for sado-masochist thrills, Steele, speaking to students at DePaul University, merely said that African-Americans lack a reason to vote Republican.
Said Steele, when asked why blacks should vote GOP:
"You really don't have a reason to, to be honest. We haven't done a very good job of giving you one. True? True."
This implies that Democrats have given the black community reason to support them. Let's see:
-20% unemployment among black males
-100s of billions spent on welfare with no decline in poverty
-50% drop-out rates among inner-city schools
-40 million fetuses destroyed in the womb
Apparently, the creation of a dependency state in which misery trickles down is a winning platform for Democrats; whereas, limited government, low taxes, free markets and self-reliance is a loser for Republicans.
In 50 B.C., a philosopher, Plato, said, "One of the penalties for failing to participate in politics is that you end up being governed by your inferiors." Steele doesn't hold office. But Plato had him pegged.
