Bart Simpson stands up for free speech

Who is afraid of drawing Muhammad and mocking him under threat of death? Well obviously Comedy Central is, bleeping portions of South Park which portrayed Islam's inventor in a bear suit, after threats from revolutionmuslim.com. Previous violence, including murder, against those who caricatured Muhammad, a big no-no in that "religion of peace, prompted Comedy Central's (not South Park's writers) action.

But South Park's Comedy Central brother in spirit, Bart Simpson, isn't quite as frightened. Well, he sort of is. In the opening credits of The Simpsons Sunday night there was a quick glimpse of Bart, kinda scared, kinda brave, standing up for free speech as only Bart can. Punished again, Bart diligently writes several times on the schoolroom chalkboard

SOUTH PARK - WE'D STAND BESIDE
YOU . . . IF WE WEREN'T SO SCARED
