Rep. Nadler supports KSM trial in Manhattan

The New York Post, in reporting on the protest against the KSM trial in Lower Manhattan, states that U.S. Rep. Jerrold Nadler disparaged military commissions and voiced support for the civilian trial just blocks from the World Trade Center site.

What geographic area does Jerrold Nadler "represent?" Wikipedia
states:

"Nadler represents New York's 8th congressional district, which includes parts of Manhattan and Brooklyn in New York City.

Nadler's district includes the west side of Manhattan from the Upper West Side down to Battery Park, including the site where the World Trade Center stood."
Words fail me.

There is a large residential area near the World Trade Center, Battery Park City. These people whose apartment windows were literally covered in ash from the bodies of those who died in the World Trade Center destruction have a Representative who is now calling for the trial of Khalid Sheik Mohammed in Foley Square, a half hour walk from their homes rather than in military tribunal at Guantanamo Bay.

As speakers at the protest on Saturday stated, the trial of KSM could take up to three years to prepare or three years to occur from beginning to end. It will be interesting to see how many votes Mr. Nadler gets – or loses - from Battery Park City and the Upper West Side.

But I suspect Nadler could easily win reelection unless there is an outbreak of sanity and self-preservation among his district’s voters.
