Big thinkers and custodians of the planet that they are, lefties north of the border are endorsing China's compulsory one-child policy... for the entire world.

At least, lefties at Canada's Financial Post are making the endorsement, but surely they speak for most of their fellow totalitarians-in-the-making everywhere.

The problem, as they see it, isn't so much global warming or cooling: its overpopulation.

A planetary law, such as China's one-child policy, is the only way to reverse the disastrous global birthrate currently, which is one million births every four days.

The world's other species, vegetation, resources, oceans, arable land, water supplies and atmosphere are being destroyed and pushed out of existence as a result of humanity's soaring reproduction rate.

Ironically, China, despite its dirty coal plants, is the world's leader in terms of fashioning policy to combat environmental degradation, thanks to its one-child-only edict.

But these enlightened lefties see a major obstacle to nations imposing a one-child only dictum: religion.

Leaders of the world's big fundamentalist religions preach in favor of procreation and fiercely oppose birth control.

That means most Christians, Jews, Muslims and Hindus.

With each passing day, the left reveals more and more of its agenda. Individual rights, freedom and life just don't make the list.
