Hentoff on Obama
"I try to avoid hyperbole, but I think Obama is possibly the most dangerous and destructive president we have ever had."—Nat Hentoff
So states Nat Hentoff in an interview reported by John W. Whitehead. The iconic libertarian, now a Senior Fellow at the Cato Institute, discusses Obama’s performance with respect to the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, Obamacare, the Patriot Act, transparency in government, torture, and foreign policy. Hentoff leaves little doubt regarding his assessment, with statements like:
“… I am beginning to think that this guy is a phony. Obama seems to have no firm principles that I can discern that he will adhere to. His only principle is his own aggrandizement. This is a very dangerous mindset for a president to have.”
and
“This is a man who is causing us and will cause us a great deal of harm constitutionally and personally. I say personally because I am 84 years old, and this is the first administration that has scared me in terms of my lifespan.”
Nat Hentoff, even if one does not always agree with him on details, has always uncompromisingly stood for individual freedom and liberty. Read the whole interview.
