Dear Hillary, Return to your Office!
Perhaps Hillary Clinton might be well advised to get off the dinner circuit and return to her office, because it appears that the Department of State is in need of supervision.
Reports from Jerusalem today suggest our embassy officials there are deliberately trying to force an international incident by attempting to run over a border guard, transporting in diplomatic vehicles a passenger without proper papers, insulting female Israeli border guards and failing to stop and present the proper travel documents at border crossings.
It might just be anti-israeli animus or arrogance behind these moves but to me it seems obvious that these officials are trying to foment an incident in which Israel will be blamed for protecting its own security.
[A] US diplomatic car allegedly tried running over a Defense Ministry security guard recently at an IDF checkpoint in the West Bank. The car had been stopped after the occupants refused to present identification papers. [snip][O]ne of the consulate cars was found to have transported a Palestinian without permits between Jerusalem and the West Bank. [snip]However, Israel's ire reached a new level after an incident on November 13 in which a five-car convoy of consulate vehicles with diplomatic plates arrived at the Gilboa crossing.According to a detailed official Israel Police description of the incident obtained exclusively by The Jerusalem Post, the drivers refused to identify themselves or open a window or door. The drivers, according to the report, purposely blocked the crossing, tried running over one of the Israeli security guards stationed there and made indecent gestures at female guards.
The situation in Nigeria also could use some oversight. The father of the man held for trying to blow up a plane in Detroit, reports that six months ago he warned our Ambassador there that his some had become an extreme Islamist and should not be allowed to travel to the U.S.
What did our diplomats do with that report? Why was he issued a visa and allowed to board a US airliner despite this warning?
Go home, Hillary. There's more to this job than glad handing.
