State Dept rep called freed Gitmo detainees 'refugees'
Words matter, as Barack Obama himself has instructed us. So I was startled when I noticed a report that State Department spokesman P.J. Crowley referred to Gitmo terrorists as "refugees." Connie Hair of Human Events noticed, but there was scarcely a ripple on the surface of the old media pond.
Ambassador Dan Fried continues his efforts to resettle, you know, Guantanamo refugees to various places around the world.
Yesterday, Qadaffi and Chavez suggesting redefining terrorists. Evidently, the State Department was ahead of them. Terrorists are now victims, refugees needed help. Perhaps the United Nations can relocate them to the camps they maintain for Palestinian refugees who are two generations away from having ever set foot in Israel.
