Senator Gregg: path to 'banana republic'
In an interview with CNN's John King, Senator Judd Gregg stated that Federal deficit figures "mean we're basically on the path to a banana-republic-type of financial situation in this country." But the line I liked best was:
"This deficit is driven by us ...You talk about systemic risk. The systemic risk today is the Congress of the United States ... We're going to undermine fundamentally the quality of life for our children by doing this." [emphasis added]
