Oprah Lobbying IOC for 2016 Chicago Olympics
President Obama will be in Copenhagen soon to join Michelle, Mayor Daley, and Oprah. Together, they hope to persuade the International Olympic Committee into granting the 2016 Olympic Summer Games to Chicago.
According to Oprah, "I've appointed myself ambassador for Chicago." Besides her vaunted star power, just what is Oprah's assigned role for helping to obtain the Olympics? Perhaps Chicago's new ambassador is in Copenhagen to assure the IOC that based on her two and a half day closure of Chicago's Michigan Avenue a few weeks ago for the taping of her 24th season kickoff show, Chicagoans do not mind traffic jams and closed streets.
