British imperialism - and racism - lives
Although a second rate military power and a declining economic power, delusions of faded grandeur remain in England, reminiscent of the time the arrogant island nation seemed powerful thanks to its dependence on its colonies.
Well, the sun has long set on the British Empire, leaving behind death and misery in the countries it misruled, but don't tell that to the snobby Brits. Still thinking they're in the days of the League of Nations mandate to run what was then called Palestine--present day Israel and parts of Jordan and Syria--when the Brits callously prevented Jews fleeing Hitler's horrors from entry to appease their Arab buddies, the Brits are at it again.
Herb Keinon of the Jerusalem Post reveals Britain's direct interference in another democratically elected government's affairs. A British representative proudly admitted in an Arab interview on al-Arabiya television that in relation to Israel
that the British government was "taking practical steps towards freezing settlement activities." "For instance," Day said, "we finance projects aimed at halting settlement activities. One of these projects seeks to build new Palestinian neighborhoods in east Jerusalem and save Palestinian houses from demolition."
In addition, Day said in an Arabic interview, "we also finance organizations that monitor settlement activities."
He further stated that "products from the settlements do not enjoy preferential custom duties that we offer to products coming from Israel. In light of this, we can say that we are taking effective and practical steps against settlement activities."
The Brits, along with their former European colonizing imperialist buddies, Holland and Spain, also secretly funded a group that found Israeli military malcontents to lie about Israel military activity during last winter's war against Gaza attacks on Israeli citizens.
Oh yes, England is part of "The Quartet" which is to help bring about peace between Israel and the Arabs. So much for their neutrality and ability to be trusted by both sides.
So far, there have been no reports of the Malvinas (Falkland Islands), Northern Ireland, Scotland or Wales receiving funding to cast off the remnants of British imperialism. However, there have been many reports of Saudi Arabian money pouring into Britain financing various terrorist activities both there and abroad.
