The Left's Forgotten Man
It might not be easy to deconstruct progressive liberal thought processes, but it is relatively straightforward to make telling empirical observations. Consider liberal responses to three individuals. Let's call them A, B, and C.
A stated: "Personally, I do believe that marriage is between a man and a woman."
When asked if he supported gay marriage, B said "No. .. nor [do I] I support redefining from a civil side what constitutes marriage."
In response to the same question, C said " I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman."
Of course, A was elected President, and remains a darling of the liberal media.
B was elected Vice President.
C didn't win Miss Universe, was nearly stripped of her Miss California title, and continues to suffer merciless personal attacks at the hands of the same liberal media that simultaneously fawns over A.
Believing that these three scenarios are perfectly consistent and principled requires the relentless abuse of D, the only enemy combatant liberals don't mind torturing: Logic.
Having the mental dexterity to reconcile A,B, and C, while ignoring D, with a straight face and a clear conscience, doesn't define someone as a committed leftist, but it's a good place to start.
