Socialized medicine at work: 10 hour ambulance wait

The future of socialized medicine, on display in the UK. Government bureaucracies and their characteristic lack of responsiveness are one thing when getting a driver's license, and quite something else when your life is at stake. From the BBC:

Anger over 10-hour ambulance wait

A woman from Rotherham has said she feels "disgusted" it took nearly 10 hours for an ambulance to take her home after dialysis treatment.

Janet Tunstill, 58, uses an electric wheelchair and was told she needed a special ambulance to accommodate it.

Mrs Tunstill's treatment at Sheffield's Northern General Hospital finished at 1400 BST on Tuesday but the ambulance did not arrive until 2330 BST.

The Yorkshire Ambulance Service has apologised for causing her distress.

Mrs Tunstill suffers from diabetes, kidney failure, lymphodema, asthma and is bed-bound at her home in Brinsworth.
