Could California interest you in buying a bridge?
While the Bay Bridge* is not for sale yet, it may soon be. Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger (R-CA) is planning to sell off other California assets such as San Quentin Prison, the Los Angeles Coliseum and The Del Mar Racetrack and Fairgrounds to help the not-so-golden state balance its budget.
There is no word on where Q's prisoners would be relocated, but there might be space at Club Gitmo soon.
Voters are going to the polls next Tuesday to decide the fate of several revenue measures on the ballot, but right now it appears the voters are opposed to raising taxes. Just recently, the state legislature raised sales tax 1%, but it is not enough to stem the tide of red ink.
Maybe a buyer could make an offer to the Governor for both the bridge and San Quentin to help seal the deal.
*The state's most famous bridge, The Golden Gate, is not owned by the state, but rather by a bridge district comprised of counties on either end of it.
