Obama's slap in the face of our ally (updated)

It's in the Odyssey, the rather sacred act of giving a gift as a host. The UK Daily Mail reports that when President Obama and UK Prime Minister Brown exchanged gifts:

... despite being leader of the world's most bountiful nation, President Obama handed over nothing more thought-provoking than 25 classic American films on DVD.

For his part, the visitor

... gave Barack Obama an ornamental pen holder made from the timbers of the Victorian anti-slave ship HMS Gannet - once called HMS President.

The unique present delighted Mr Obama because oak from the Gannet's sister ship, HMS Resolute, was carved to make a desk that already takes place in the Oval Office in the White House, after being presented by Britain to the US in 1880.

Nothing is more classless, ugly, universally despised for millennia, degrading to all, than to offer a gift that is demeaning and cheap.

As President of the U.S. with personal millions and staff to handle this type of thing, couldn't he come up with something better than I could just going through my DVD shelf?

I can get the fact that this guy is a socialist, born a muslim, an extreme liberal and that he is doing just exactly what anyone with any sense knew he would and I can even get the fact that he is a full blown liar because he is a politician, just more so. But this is absolutely the final straw with this guy:

This is an unforgiveable insult to both the U.S. and Britain. Simply disgusting.

It's just like A number 1 ultimately says to Cigarette in Emperor of the North Pole as he knocks him off the train car, "Kid, you just got no class."

It must be said, and if you feel motivated to do so, I wish you or someone could just offer up that overarching assessment of this guy: Obama, has just got no class.

Update from Rosslyn Smith:

It is entirely likely that the DVDs Obama gave PM Brown cannot be played on ordinary British equipment. North American DVDs are in region one NTSC format while the Europe use region two PAL format.  He would either need an American DVD player or a special one set  up to be "regionless" or "multisystem" to play DVDs from other regions.
(I know this because being a fan some obscure British actors whose work is often not realized in this country I probably have the only regionless DVD player and multisystem TV/VCR hookup in 100 mile radius.)
