Obama's Transparency
Musing on two years of Obama's artful magniloquence, about the only thing I could be kind of sure of was that Barack's way of government, if not stellar in every other way, would be transparent.
He assured us that the shadowy cabals of the Bush administration, and sneaky deals made in the dead of night, would end up on that ash heap of history.
At least, that's what I thought he was saying.
That is the power of a campaign built on two panacean syllables, hope and change, we each come away from an Obama oratory thinking he spoke directly about our pet concerns.
For me, this transparency, whether you agreed with the politics or not, was what I was looking forward to most.
Events leading up to the passage of Obama's stimulus package now have me convinced that I was just hearing what I wanted to hear.
Democrats, responding to the criticism that much of this stimulus bill was ironed out in closed quarters, said that the bill was handled in compliance to procedures that have been in place for years.
In other words, the same old sneaky way.
I thought it would have been longer than three weeks before I realized that I was, once again, Charlie Brown trying to kick that football.
