The Dems' Burris fiasco just gets better and better
The GOP may have to relinquish its title as "the stupid party" if the Dems follow through on their idiotic plan to physically bar Roland Burris from the Senate floor next Tuesday when the new Congress is seated. CNN reports:
[An] aide familiar with Senate Democratic leaders' plans said if Burris tries to enter the Senate chamber, the Senate doorkeeper will stop Burris. If Burris were to persist, either trying to force his way onto the Senate floor or refusing to leave and causing a scene, U.S. Capitol Police would stop him, said the aide."They (police) probably won't arrest him" but they would call the sergeant-at-arms," the aide said.
I hereby declare comparisons to Democrat Alabama Governor George Wallace barring the door to African-American students officially underway. Now that Patrick Fitzgerald has said himself unable to indict Blago within the legal deadline, challenges to Burris's standing as a legitimate appointee are even weaker. And the Dems have another eccentric politican with a high national profile on their hands.
