Richardson drops out

NBC is reporting that Governor Bill Richardson has taken himself out of the running for a cabinet post:

New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson, tapped in December by President-elect Barack Obama to serve as secretary of Commerce, has withdrawn his name for the position, citing a pending investigation into a company that has done business with his state.

Thomas Lifson adds: I wonder of Obama will ask any of his Chicago friends for advice on a replacement? They have a lot of commerce in Chicago, I understand, some of it even legal.
