Poor little rich girl
Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), who is one of the wealthiest members of Congress thanks to her husband, finally admitted she is not part of the hoi polloi--the common people she is to represent. (Oh ok, her district in California doesn't contain too many common people but nevertheless she does preside over representatives who do.)
When asked about the influence of Rush Limbaugh and Matt Drudge of the popular drudgereport.com on her decisions she haughtily sniffed:
"I am the Speaker of the House. I don’t get into that... popular culture" she said at her weekly press conference, interrupting a questioner who asked about their impact on the stimulus debate.
Spoken like a true Democrat--just stay away from the people and what they want because you know better.
