Berkeley tree sitters out on a limb
The obnoxious, smelly tree sitters in Berkeley, who are trying to stop construction of a training facility for athletes, lost in court, and now are seeking an appeal and continuance of an injunction to prevent construction beginning. Carolyn Jones of the San Francisco Chronicle reports:
The court is expected to decide next week whether to lift the injunction preventing the university from beginning construction. If the court decides to hear the appeal, the injunction could be extended for a year or so, attorneys for both sides have said.
She also notes:
Citing increased tension between Cal football fans and the tree-sitters, the university sent a letter to ticketholders this week imploring them to behave civilly around the protesters.
The football season opens Saturday with Michigan State visiting. Lots of people in Berkeley are fed-up with these brats. They have dropped bags of human feces on police, and can be smelled from half a block away. I pass by them on a regular basis and know from experience. Their protest is adding $40k a day in security costs and rising constrcution expense. They should go home to Mommy and Daddy and take a bath.
