Ralph Peters has written far and away the clearest and most honest
account of Russian actions in brutally invading the democratic Republic of Georgia.
"It's impossible to overstate the importance of what's un folding as we watch. Russia's invasion of Georgia - a calculated, unprovoked aggression - is a crisis that may have more important strategic implications than Iraq and Afghanistan combined.
We're seeing the emergence of a rogue military power with a nuclear arsenal."
Most of the media have gotten this incredibly wrong, blaming the victim and absolving the aggressor. Ralph Peter convincingly shows why: Because it took months and even years to set up this invasion. Years, because Russian passports have been handed out to South Ossetians, so Russia could claim to be protecting its own citizens by invading Georgia. (Also see Robert Kagan's excellent
article in the Washington Post yesterday).
The liberal media, here and in Europe, simply are incredible. They are the Hitler appeasers of 2008.
