Another disaster for 'compassionate' liberalism
It seemed like such a good idea to the liberals in Seattle: let's have automated, graffiti-resistant toilets for the homeless. So what if it cost about a million bucks apiece for five of the German-made high tech water closets! People deserve the right to live on the streets, so we must help them avoid urination and defecation right on the sidewalks.
But in Seattle, as in San Francisco where a similar scheme was put in place, but requiriring a 25 cent fee, the toilets ended up being used for drug deals, prostitution, and other nefarious activities. So AP is reporting that Seattle is auctioning off the toilets on ebay, with a starting bid of $89,000
Is anyone surprised that as of posting time, nobody has bothered to bid?
