Follow-up: 'Hillary's Texas Money Bundler'
Back on November 27, American Thinker ran an article concerning Senator Clinton's extraordinary success at raising money in and around the border town of McAllen, Texas. Correspondingly, Senator Obama's fundraising efforts were doing poorly. Has anything changed in six months?
Back then, Hillary had raised $640,000 there with the help of a local prominent citizen named Alonzo Cantu, who was highlighted in a Washington Post article. Obama had, at that time, raised only $2,086 from among the heavily Hispanic population.
Current Federal Election Commission records indicate that Obama has gained new contributors and now registers $96,020 in campaign donations from the same pool. But, Clinton has gained, also. Her contributions have risen to $1,033,944.
While this is only anecdotal evidence, it does suggest that Obama has not dramatically eaten into her support among Hispanics, at least in Hidalgo County, Texas.
By the way, the name Alonzo Cantu does not appear on the current Obama donor list.
