Obama's other spiritual mentor
David Kopel pens a must-read essay on Obama's other spiritual mentor (his own term), Rev. Michael Pfleger. As a state legislator, Obama helped Pfleger's church get a $225,000 grant from the state. Volokh details the radical activities of this extremist mentor.
One small data point he missed: when the Illinois Hate commission was found to have an acolyte of Louis Farrakhan on board (Sister Claudette Marie Muahmmed), there were calls for her to denounce Farrakhan's racist and anti-Semitic remarks. When she refused to do so, three Jewish members resigned from the Commission. Pfleger supported her refusal to condemn Farrakhan's racism and commented on the resignation of the Jewish members thusly: "good riddance".
