Kucinich to offer Impeachment Resolution against Cheney

The man who claims to have seen a UFO with Shirley McLain is now claiming that he can do what no Democrat has dared to do; offer a resolution of impeachment against Vice President Cheney and have it considered by the full House.

The parliamentary device that Democratic Presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich is going  to use in his doomed to fail effort is known as a "privileged resolution." Such a resolution, if approved by the Speaker, must be voted on within two business days
in the House.

Kucinish is dead serious:

“The momentum is building for impeachment,” Kucinich said. “Millions of citizens across the nation are demanding Congress rein in the Vice President’s abuse of power.

“Despite this groundswell of opposition to the unconstitutional conduct of office, Vice President Cheney continues to violate the U.S. Constitution by insisting the power of the executive branch is supreme.

“Congress must hold the Vice President accountable. The American people need to let Members of Congress know how they feel about this. The Vice President continues to use his office to advocate for a continued occupation of Iraq and prod our nation into a belligerent stance against Iran. If the Vice President is successful, his actions will ensure decades of disastrous consequences.”
Pelosi is on the spot. If she refuses to accept the privileged status of the resolution, Kucinich can appeal her ruling to the entire House where it will cause no end of squirming on the part of Democrats who fear the wrath of the netroots.

Nevertheless, Pelosi's ruling is likely to be upheld. If she were to allow the up or down vote, it is equally likely that it will lose badly thus making the Democrats look like fools.

Kucinich is apparently desperate to find some traction for his campaign by exciting the Democratic base to rally to him. He probably should have hitched a ride on that UFO since his resolution is going to be one huge embarassment for the Democrats.
