A GOP Senate seat pick-up in Louisiana?
Finally, some good news for the GOP in Senate recruiting efforts. John Kennedy was up 7 points in a poll against Landrieu before he announced his candidacy. Now he has declared himself in the race.
I think Mary Landrieu, who is a strong campaigner, is in real trouble, especially in a presidential election year, when the state tends to be more Republican than in mid-term cycles. The population change in the state since Katrina is a plus for GOP efforts. Landrieu won two races by narrow margins with a much more Democratic mix in the state. Bobby Jindal, a Republican, was just elected Governor by a huge margin.
