France's DNA Immigration Bill
France's famous bedrock of liberty, equality and fraternity just added DNA.
Flooded with immigrants, especially from its former colonies in North Africa, both legal and illegal with the numerous social and financial problems both real and imagined they cause, the French Parliament passed an immigration law with a provision "for possible DNA testing of foreigners who want to join relatives in France."
Flooded with immigrants, especially from its former colonies in North Africa, both legal and illegal with the numerous social and financial problems both real and imagined they cause, the French Parliament passed an immigration law with a provision "for possible DNA testing of foreigners who want to join relatives in France."
Offsetting critics who claimed an initial law on the subject was racist the Parliament modified it to "an 18-month experiment and with a DNA comparison being made only for a child seeking to join a mother already in France."
And to maintain the facade of French unity as exemplified by the famous opening phrase in French history textbooks "Our ancestors the Gauls" the law also requires that "all immigrants learn French before they are granted legal residency."
European leftists, especially the French, enjoy portraying America as a racist, heartless society although this might be changing under Sarkozy. Just imagine the outcry if any American government official suggested something similar.
