Judicial mischief
Judge Saundra B. Armstrong of the U.S. District Court has ruled that the Bush Administration is required to issue two reports on global warming. This is obviously a publicity stunt, the reports are meaningless. The action was brought by environmental special interest groups like Greenpeace, the Center for Biological Diversity and Friends of the Earth.
As stunts go, this one worked rather well. The AP story was picked up widely. No doubt, the TV guys will pick this up tonight. It fits the template and action line perfectly, "defiant Bush administration persists in supressing global warming." In my view, Judges should not allow their courts to used for a publicity stunt.
