Dutch cabinet minister: Netherlands will be Islamic
The mind reels. Assuming this report in the blog Dutch Concerns is correct, Dhimmitude is being welcomed by a cabinet minister in a modern, advanced democracy. No accounts appear in the MSM, of course.
Unbelievable as it may seem, the Dutch 'Minister voor Wonen, Wijken en Integratie' (Residence, Neighbourhoods and Integration (I'm not making this up)), Ella Vogelaar, today has declared in an interview (in Dutch newspaper Trouw) that The Netherlands will be Islamic at some point in the future. She feels that The Netherlands should adapt to Islam, and subsidise Islamic institutions. What will emerge, according to her, is a "Christian-Jewish-Islamic culture". As if Christianity and Judaism aren't 100% opposite to Islam's teachings. The stupidity of the statement is mind boggling.
Now, to be fair to Vogelaar, this is not a direct quote, and perhaps she was simply expressing multi-culti wishful-thinking, in which a pluralistic and tolerant society with a majority of Muslims will appear in Holland. In that case, I would commend to her attention Suras 9-12 of the Koran, and ask her to examine the plight of non-Muslims in even the most tolerant Muslim-majority countries like Turkey and Malaysia.
Evidently Vogelaar and her political party have a bit of a history of Dhimmitude. Dutch Concerns continues:
Unfortunately, Vogelaar is just one of many traitors to the western culture, member of the PvdA political party (Partij van de Arbeid, Labour Party). She is totally incompetent. Ignorance never was an excuse for incompetence, and it's certainly not becoming one now. She actually thought that Mohammed Bouyeri, Theo van Gogh's killer, was some sort of social worker who's ideas she found agreeable. Is it surprising that PvdA has been nicknamed many names: Partij van de Allochtonen, Partij van de Allahs, Portemonnee van de Ander, Partij van de Achterlijkheid (Immigrant Party, Allah Party, Other People's Wallet, Retard's Party) and then some more?
The PVV (Freedom Party), the only party in The Netherlands that hasn't succumbed to dhimmytude, has asked questions on the issue to Dutch Parliament. The PVV wants these statements withdrawn, or else Vogelaar should resign.
I definitely want more information on her views on Bouyeri.
Dan Riehl, of Riehl World View, notes that Holland is preparing to accommodate Sharia-compliant banking, avoiding the appearance of charging interest. This is something that the UK is also doing, and which I believe is possible in the United States. On the face of it, there is nothing I know of to prevent such practices, so long as full disclosure is provided. And I donb't see any reason to prohibit it, at least as long as the belief remains that a pluralistic society can tolerate a religion as intolerant as Islam has been throughout most of its history and remains in so many countries.
I am anxious to learn more about the Dutch reaction to her comments. The Netherlands has one of the ultra-low birthrates (at least among the Dutch), so that continued immigration and high birthrates among Muslims are making Vogelaar's prediction of an Islamic majority a simple matter of trend projection. The genuine question for the current Dutch majority is whether or not they want to relax and just let it happen, and assume that a Muslim majority in Holland will not follow Koranic injunctions and impose Sharia on them once they have a majority.
So far as I know, there has as yet been no MSM coverage of this. And frankly, I do not expect any.
