Once you start changing names...
In my home state of Washington, the County Council of King County (Seattle and surroundings) has just changed the name of the County to Martin Luther King County. They were troubled because the original Mr. King for whom the county was named was a slave owner. What better way to assuage liberal white guilt?
It reminds one of the cry in Animal House:
"No, I think we have to go all out. I think that this situation absolutely requires a really futile and stupid gesture be done on somebody's part."
Logically, since George Washington also held slaves, we should expect the State legislature to change the name of our state to "Booker T Washington State". But why stop there - how about Booker T Washington, DC?
It may be Apirl Fools Day, but this could appeal to a lot of fools.
