Loving and Compassionate?
Yesterday's UK Guardian featured an appalling cartoon referencing the recent assassination attempt on Dick Cheney during his visit to Afghanistan. The picture shows a corpse-like Vice President popping out of his coffin and shouting ‘Surprise!' in front of George Bush. A pig-like Bush draws back his snout, obviously startled by this unexpected development.
Even while knowing that the very liberal Guardian - which also happens to be a leading UK newspaper - is the bible of the British left, it is still shocking to see this kind of repulsive stuff in its pages. Sad to say, it is rather indicative of the seething hatred that the British and European leftists feel toward the Bush administration. So visceral and vitriolic is their odium that obviously they would have welcomed the Vice President's violent demise. This sentiment they apparently share with many of their American counterparts some of whom voiced on various blogs their displeasure with the fortunate outcome of the assassination attempt.
That the western left can still get away with claming to be loving, compassionate and caring is truly remarkable given the abundant evidence to the contrary. Their outrageous reaction to the Cheney episode is yet another revealing proof of their real nature.
