Good news tonight (a poem)
Mr. and Mrs. America, there's good news tonight.
The world is at peace. The future is bright.
There aren't any wars. There is nary a plight.
There's no hunger, no fear. There is sweetness and light.
And into this glorious vacuum can ride
Our valiant Congress. They can easily slide
Their pigs and their pork, their spinach and such
Into their bills. The folks won't care overmuch.
With time on their hands they can investigate,
Searching for another Watergate.
With nothing to do they can plan serious panels
Doing away with our Constitutional annuals
And rewrite our rights to their bitter delight.
Breathe a sigh of relief. There's good news tonight.
