John Bolton
Forcing John Bolton out of the United Nations ambassadorship, as defeated Sen. Chafee still promises to do, would be a victory for terror—supporting regimes (particularly if Bush is forced to replace him with someone that would be more appealing to the Democrats and to terrorists, such as Phillip Zelikow).
Bolton has been the most forthright opponent of extremism within our diplomatic corps. He struck a blow against the use of the United Nations as a venue that gave birth to such philosophical doctrines as the noxious "Zionism is Racism" Resolution.
As the Under—Secretary of State for Arms Control and International Security, John Bolton was the driving force behind the passage of the Proliferation Security Initiative (PSI). This program has probably been one of the most successful programs in preventing the acquisition of nuclear weapons by terror regimes. The program seeks to increase the cost and difficulties of developing nuclear weapons.
The Proliferation Security Initiative (PSI) is a global partnership of voluntary cooperation to interdict the transport of biological, chemical, and nuclear weapons, their delivery systems and related materials at sea, in the air or on land to and from actors of proliferation concern.
The Potential loss of Bolton's services at the United Nations is a shame, and will damage our efforts in the war.
