The New York Times is desperately flogging circulation. Richard Baehr comments:

I got a call from the Times yesteday offering me the Monday to Saturday paper free for two months. I accepted, and told the caller (who undoubtedly couldn't care less, since he probably got a commission for selling two free months), that I would almost certainly cancel after two months. And explained why I hated  the paper.

A pretty desperate sales offer, I think.
