Louis Pepe has the distinction of being the first victim of Islamic terrorists in America. A jailer at the federal lockup in Manhattan, Pepe was attacked and severely injured when a top lieutenant of Osama bin Laden stabbed him in the eye, and he was beaten.

Disgracefully, he has had to fight for benefits. The Los Angeles Times reports on the sorry spectacle of his struggle. Those who gush over the plight of the Gitmo detainees don't seem to very concerned about him, or about the guards in Gitmo who have been on the receiving end of urine and feces thrown their way.
