The special election today in California's 50th district
The Congressional seat formerly occuppied by Randy "Duke" Cunningham (now a guest of the Federal Bureau of Prisons) is up for grabs today. Democrats are salivating at the opportunity to pick—up what had been a reliably GOP seat in wealthy and conservative Northern San Diego County (Del Mar). Jay Cost, writing in the Real Clear Politics blog explains why a Democratic pick—up would not be the definitive sign of an impending reversal of control of Congress that the Democrats wouldsurely proclaim it to be. And why a Republican victory might well indicate that the GOP will maintain control. And the relevance of Roger Ebert to the question.
A witty read.
