Another LA Times big ego has problems
If you thought that Mike Hiltzik guy was the only leftist egomaniac ever hired by the LA Times, here's another. An ex—LA Times writer who now calls herself 'La Queen Sucia' recently denounced the Miami Herald for not covering the launch of her latest "chick lit" novel.
The Herald had more important things to do than cover her campaign to hawk books, so she publicly blasted the newspaper on her blog, as if that would actually change their minds. Naming names, she denounced Herald reporters she disliked one by one and wrote nasty — and probably false — stories about their motives. She claimed a vendetta.
She compounded the ugliness by starting a very nasty fight with a popular and warmly regarded Cuban—American blogger, Val Prieto, who's essentially the pulse of the Miami Cuban American community. We know Val from Babalu blog.
Denouncing him with venomous insults derived from the old pro—Castro left, she then got to what was really bothering her: that the Miami Herald had ignored her but put Prieto on the front page last year for his excellent blogging that was reaching an extremely wide audience well beyond Miami. She missed that rather important detail as she ranted about why she was entitled to coverage.
She never quite succeeded in getting it. While her sense of entitlement to news coverage defied belief, her raw jealousy against Prieto was almost embarrassing to read.
Today the Miami Herald decided to put Prieto on the Home and Garden section front page for his leisure activities .... again.
Could there have been a connection with the ugly string of insults this writer hurled at both the Herald and Prieto? It's not anything we can tell, but it's a rather pleasant and remarkable coincidence.
Viva the Miami Herald!
