An alien environmental-wacko species invades Chile

By

Doug Tompkins, the Bolinas environmentalist who made a billion—dollar fortune on pure unfettered capitalism in the sweatshop— and synthetic—fiber world of the clothing—manufacturing industry in China, has bought some land in Chile and is using it to impose his own "deep ecology" crackpot theories on the South American nation.

It's not enough that he owns the Chilean land. It's that he now thinks that gives him the right to tell Chileans they have no right to develop their own land. In order to keep his spread the way he likes, he is demanding that Chileans halt all of their own national development in favor of his scenic view. He's actively opposing a long—planned dam among other things.

But it all comes down to: sweatshop capitalism cash is fine for me, but no running water for you. The Miami Herald reports:

In Tompkins' view, the world is headed for ''environmental and social collapse'' due to the depletion of natural resources and irresponsible development.

He said he didn't care if his opposition to the construction of dams and the laying of power lines across his property stopped economic development in Chile

As may be imagined, this hypocritical arrogance is not going down well in pragmatic and prosperity—oriented Chile, a nation that takes every reasonable step to preserve its environment and balance that with its need for development. But Tompkins is having none of that and insists that Chile stay undeveloped in order to validate his environmental wacko theories.

Worse yet, he's working with the Kennedys to force it to happen.

Some of these Kennedys, notably Joe, were last seen consorting with Venezuelan dictator Hugo Chavez to provide cheap heating oil to select Massachusett constituents, in a political loyalty scheme. Meanwhile, Ted himself in the Senate has vetoed every major energy initiative that would bring down oil prices for everyone. Now wealthy Robert's busy working with Sweatshop Doug to make sure Chile has no sovereign right to any development.

Astonishing but true. The Miami Herald has the whole disgusting story
