Feminist Thought Police
The president of the Pennsylvania chapter of the National Organization for Women (NOW), Joanne Tosti—Vasey, has called for the resignation of Penn State football coach Joe Paterno, after Paterno expressed regret that a Florida State football player was prohibited from playing in the Orange Bowl after being accused of sexual assault.
According to Tosti—Vasey, "allegations of sexual assault should never be taken lightly." Anyone who reads Paterno's comments will realize that he did no such thing. Nevertheless, by not toeing the feminist line that men are guilty until proven innocent, Paterno became the target of what Tammy Bruce has called the New Thought Police. While no one can doubt Paterno's toughness under fire, here's hoping that the powers—that—be at Penn State do not buckle under to this blatant act of political and emotional intimidation.
