Bookworm, whose essay on being a crypto—conservative appears today, has an interesting reflection on the case just argued before the Supreme Court, wherein universities seek to exclude military recruiters and simultaneously collect vast revenues from the federal government. She brings up the thoughts of David Thoreau, usually a beloved figure in groves of academe, whose example is decidedly geramane to the current controversy.
