Another ad in the NYT

We came across this full—page ad in the New York Times
(click on Download PDF flier, at bottom of page). The ad was taken out by an anti—Bush group styling itself as "The World Can't Wait" coalition and calls for the ouster of the "Bush Regime" — clearly trying to yoke the administration to dictatorial regimes.

What are their plans? To stage a coup d'etat? No, they advocate noise terrorism. That is right. When George Bush presents the State of the Union Address in January, they are telling people to rise up and make noise by banging pots, honking horns, blasting stereos (let's call it noise pollution— undoubtedly, the only type of pollution favored by these people.)

Signers include the convicted murderer Mumia Abu—Jamal (who is characterized as a political prisoner and journalist, but who actually engaged in a bank robbery that led to the killing of a policeman); Ron Kovic and Jane Fonda (the Vietnam war has never ended for some), a gaggle of Muslim groups, Cindy Sheehan, Martin Sheen, Lyne Stewart (a lawyer charged with aiding Muslim terror groups), Ed Begley Ed Asner, and Gabriel Byrne (I guess when you have no acting career left, you can become a protester), fired professor and rapper wannabe Cornel West, and other assorted, befuddled  and besotted "worthies". Whoever dreamt up this tactic mst have overdosed on the movie "Network" which also featured a nosiy protest by those who oculd not take it anymore.

There must be a name for these absurd tactics which will just drive people away from the views held by their perpetrators.Whatever, it is we should "bless these fools".
