Who just leaked a dangerous CIA secret?
Today's Washington Post reveals a national security secret that can imperil us far more than the phony Valerie Wilson "leak". The writer, Dana Priest, with the certain cooperation of CIA leftwingers, reveals a highly secret CIA—run prison network for Al Qaida captives in Eastern Europe. We are italicizing the parts of the WaPo story below that show how much this leaked revelation is likely to hurt US national security. Because Dana Priest and his editors are fully aware that this story is a political assault on the Bush Administration's War on Terror. They just think it's their special privilege to reveal critical US national security information to our enemies, foreign and domestic.
"The CIA has been hiding and interrogating some of its most important al Qaeda captives at a Soviet—era compound in Eastern Europe, according to U.S. and foreign officials familiar with the arrangement.
The secret facility is part of a covert prison system set up by the CIA ..., according to current and former intelligence officials and diplomats from three continents.
The hidden global internment network is a central element in the CIA's unconventional war on terrorism. It depends on the cooperation of foreign intelligence services, and on keeping even basic information about the system secret from the public, foreign officials and nearly all members of Congress charged with overseeing the CIA's covert actions....
The CIA and the White House, citing national security concerns and the value of the program, have dissuaded Congress from demanding that the agency answer questions in open testimony about the conditions under which captives are held.
Well, the WaPo just endangered our national security. This way of holding lethal Al Qaida murderers may now collapse. Our Eastern European allies, who have supported us because they know the meaning of tyranny, will now come under pressure from terrorists and the terrorized. Poland may see its first big car bombing, because the terrorists also read the WaPo. Civilians who die in that predictable bombing will lose their lives because the Washington Post and the CIA leakers are above the law. That is the meaning of the prosecution of Lewis Libby — Republicans can be prosecuted for fake leaks, but Democrats, the CIA, and the leftist media are immune.
The CIA — the part of it that is actually fighting the terrorists, rather than the President ——— will be forced to move those prisoners. The Democrats will immediately add this new leak to their goldplated collection of national security leaks — not including the phony "outing" of Valerie Plame. And the new coup effort by the Secret Government, allied with the Washington Post and the Left, will take heart and start another assault on the President.
This is a REAL leak. It REALLY does endanger your security and mine.
Question: Will anybody in Washington, D.C take notice?
