The spirit of Jayson Blair lives on
Who else could we be talking about but the New York Times?
Blogger Simon from Hong Kong has found some blatant lifting from his Simon World blog site regarding the closely followed Andy Kissel murder trial. In the course of the trial, Simon attracted some high—power posts from everyone who's anyone in Hong Kong, adding a new dimension to how news is covered.
Who but the New York Times to come along and pick it up without attribution? Simon, recognizing the likelihood that he was breaking new ground in news coverage, early on posted a notice on his blog that given the attention he was getting, he would appreciate media attribution if his work as used. As one may imagine, the New York Times wasn't having any of that, and wrote the story up as its own, seeking to reinforce the myth that its reporters are all ace investigators. Yeah sure.
Simon is thoroughly disgusted at the Times' shamelessness. Read his post.
