Whe will they ever learn?

Reader Pete Brittain, of Sandpoint, Idaho, wrote us a useful comment on Rachel Neuworth's article today. With his permission, we are posting it here:

That old Commie, Pete Seeger, wrote an anti war song in which were the words  "When will they ever learn?"

A new song should be written, using the same words to describe how the West does not learn from history. It seems that no lessons were learned by ignoring Hitler's arms build up or that of Japan.  It looks to me like the West has its fingers crossed behind its back while ignoring or pretending to ignore Iran's status as a nuclear power and secretly hoping that Israel does the dirty work.  After all, if one reads the accounts fromthe European media, Israel is expendable.

To paraphrase that snide, arrogant Frenchman:  "Let's let that sh***y little country take care of Iran's nukes so we don't have to and end up alienating the Muslims."

Churchill nailed it:  " You had a choice between appeasement and war.  You chose appeasement and you shall have war."

Will we ever learn?
