The auto-pen issue

The "Rummy auto—pen" flap needs a dose of perspective. In WW II, the government used Morse Code to transmit messages to Western Union offices throughout the country. All the railroad depots had Western Union offices, and it was a part of every railroad agent's job to receive and deliver the death notices.
