Simon Tisdall of The Guardian (UK) reports that the situation in Kosovo is deteriorating rapidly, and goes so far as to say,
Kosovo is fast becoming "the black hole of Europe" and could descend into renewed violence within weeks unless the EU takes urgent action...
Readers of AT were warned of potential problems back in July as US forces were withdrawing from the Balkans. The prediction of EU impotence in the face of renewed violence and "payback" in the Balkans once US forces were withdrawn have, unfortunately, come true.
Every possible worst—case scenario is unfolding according to Tisdall, including the possibility that Serbia will reassert control over the breakaway province. Tisdall's only goof is when he preaches the tried and true requirement for an "exit strategy," and he mentions the EU and US in the same breath. He must not have heard that, other than headquaters elements and intell agents, the US has already executed an exit strategy.
If the situation weren't so tragic, it would be viewed as one of the biggest "I told you so's" in modern history.
