Self-parody
The Corrections column in the New York Times is frequently an unintentional humor column. Today's is a prime example:

If anyone can supply me an example of a New York Times correction which does involves an "editing mistake" which made Democrats, not Republicans, look bad, I would cherish it for its scarcity value.
The New York Times has become a parody of itself. Never in my memory has a media icon so thoroughly demolished its once—high reputation.
