SEIU local backs Bloomberg
When Andrew Stern split organized labor by walking out of the AFL—CIO, he promised to decouple big labor from the Democrats. The process has already begun. According to the New York Post, Service Employees International Local 32BJ in New York has handed an endorsement to Republican Mayor Bloomberg in his re—election campaign.

Richard Baehr adds:
Not as big a deal as it looks— Democrats in New York are fractured, and Bloomberg, unlike Giuliani, played nice with labor unions from the beginning. He will be an easy winner, so unions won't advance their cause by spiting him and wasting their time and money on a loser Democrat. SEIU is one of several unions that have endorsed Bloomberg.
